Where is Jeffrey Dahmer’s younger brother David? How did he disappear?
Following his brother’s crimes, the serial killer’s younger brother, David, changed his last name.
The new Netflix portrayal of serial murderer Jeffrey Dahmer’s life and atrocities omits certain crucial aspects, including what happened to the serial killer’s younger brother, David Dahmer.
“Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” depicts David Dahmer as a youngster in the early episodes before he disappears almost totally from the main line. David Dahmer was born in 1966, seven years after his sibling.
This disappearance is not dissimilar to what happened in real life.
During their parents’ divorce, Jeffrey and David Dahmer were separated.
The brothers grew up together, as the program portrays. In his 1993 book “The Shrine of Jeffrey Dahmer,” Brian Masters claims that David once witnessed his older brother doing an animal autopsy.
“David Dahmer aware about the animal graveyard and believed his brother was ‘doing a good service’ by burying dead creatures,” Masters stated in his letter.
Their parents, Lionel and Joyce Dahmer, divorced in 1978, each charging the other of “extreme cruelty and gross neglect of duty,” as stated in Masters’ book.
A custody fight for David Dahmer, 11, began. “There was a great deal of debate over who should have custody of David and where he would live, but no consideration was ever given as to what should happen to Jeff, or where he would be scheduled to live,” Masters said in his letter.
Joyce was granted custody of her younger child. Joyce then brought David Dahmer with her to Wisconsin, ignoring court instructions that she stay within a fair distance of Lionel. “She left, never to return, urging Jeff not to tell his father what she had done,” the writer claimed.
Jeffrey Dahmer, who was almost 18, remained with their father.
What happened to David Dahmer?
Jeffrey Dahmer was convicted in 1992 of murdering 15 boys and men between 1978 and 1991, and he admitted to two additional deaths.
According to their father, David Dahmer’s solution was to vanish.
David Dahmer changed his name during an interview with Lionel and Shari Dahmer, the brothers’ stepmother, on “Larry King Live” in 2004. His new name has yet to be revealed.
“We’ve promised to keep him completely secret,” Lionel Dahmer stated.
His stepmother, on the other hand, highlighted his success. “He has a career… and a family,” she explained. “He’s overjoyed. We’re about to get our second grandchild. “Everything is going swimmingly.”
Lionel Dahmer stated that the two “weren’t as close as someone who was maybe one or two years different.” He also stated that the two men had distinct personalities, with Jeffrey Dahmer being “extremely shy” and David Dahmer being “very, very ebullient and outgoing.”
There have been no updates on David Dahmer after the 2004 interview, and no public record since his name change.
Evan Peters plays an older Jeffrey Dahmer in the ten-part series. Lionel is played by Richard Jenkins, while Shari is played by Molly Ringwald.
