Devil May Cry 6: Release Date And Everything We Know So Far
If you’ve played Devil May Cry 5 for the 50th time and are itching to get your teeth into a new adventure, you’ll be ecstatic when Devil May Cry 6 arrives at your local gaming store.
It’s incredible how a game franchise that was supposed to be part of the Resident Evil Canon became DMC. Capcom discovered that it didn’t quite suit the R.E style, and any game that was too gnarly for the R.E series had to be incredible, right?
If you’ve been a long-time Retro Dodo reader, you’ve undoubtedly come across the magnificent Dante. He’s the series’ most recognizable character and does an excellent job – Devil Hunter.
If you enjoy the Souls games, please take a seat. DMC has it all: Dante’s humor, Vergil’s power, and the sheer difficulty of the games at times.
These games are jam-packed with amazing features, and if Number 5 is any indication, Devil May Cry 6 will go off like a firecracker coated in swords and lava.
Here are all of the facts, rumors, and release date information we have regarding Devil May Cry 6 so far, as well as some things we’d like to see in the upcoming game!
Everything We Know So Far About Devil May Cry 6
Devil May Cry 6 has to be bigger and better than DMC 5, which is a difficult goal in and of itself.
It’s been 4 years since the last title was released, so we know Capcom has been working on delivering us what is now being classified as a long-awaited sequel for quite some time.
Still, it’s hardly as long as GTA fans have had to wait for a GTA V sequel, right?
We ultimately see a strange sort of reconciliation between Vergil and Dante at the end of DMC 5, even if their conflicts are still going on in the underworld as I type this. It’s all a little shaky if you ask me, given how Vergil had that enormous Thanos sense about wanting to conquer everything.
That makes us believe that their ‘relationship’ will be dominant in DMC 6 now that family ties have been mended… or that things have returned to normal in the sense that they are still arguing.
But I’m getting ahead of myself here; more on that in a moment.
DMC 5 used live-action cutscenes instead of their computerized counterparts as an option for players to watch.
Some people adored them, while others despised them.
You can bet they’ll be back for the next game now that they’ve generated such a commotion. But, thankfully, they’re an optional addition, so it’s nothing to be concerned about!
What Can We Expect From the Gameplay of Devil May Cry 6?
Each Devil May Cry game is more intense than the last, and while the action will be even more intense than the previous game, with the same number of puzzles, we’re also anticipating a lot more engaging and rich storyline, similar to what we experienced while playing Ghost of Tsushima.
Vergil and Dante have a lot of problems to handle, and there’s always the possibility that one of them will screw the other over at any time.
We just have a feeling that something shady is going on, but we can’t quite put our finger on it.
If anything, we can expect the powers to be developed even more, with additional features unlocked by completing specific tasks, similar to the Metroid Prime games or any RPG you’ve ever played.
The combat will be so smooth and slick that we won’t want them to finish, which will definitely have us replaying this game 50 times as we wait for Devil May Cry 7!
Finally, let us discuss the globe.
DMC games’ levels have always been extremely well-designed. Still, developers have had to reconsider how players experience not just the environment at face value, but the depth with which they may explore and essentially get lost in each area since TotK.
Hyrule’s Depths may not be as nasty as the Underworld, but given how large games have evolved in recent years, we expect far more explorative features to emerge everywhere in DMC 6.
The Top 6 Devil May Cry Rumours
One of the most popular Devil May Cry 6 rumors is the return of prior characters from previous games, with chatter and other publications speculating that Lucia may be returning.
You might remember Lucia from her debut in DMC 2, and it’s about time she got a bigger role in the DMC series again.
Another rumour circulating the internet (and you’re probably not going to like it) is that the next Devil May Cry game will be a remake rather than a new game.
I know… I’ll give you a moment to think about that.
It makes sense; we’re seeing a lot of remakes right now, and look how excited everyone is for the Silent Hill 2 Remake to come out on PS5!
We’ve previously seen remakes of the first three PS2 games, so we could be getting an improved version of Devil May Cry 4, the best-selling DMC game.
Release Date for Devil May Cry 6
Devil May Cry 6 is expected to be released in the winter of 2025.
If you read our Resident Evil 9 piece, you’ll know that we believe Capcom will release Chris Redfield’s newest adventure in Summer 2025.
I believe it is doubtful that DMC and R.E will share the same marketing area, with a six-month gap between the two games being the more logical alternative.
Furthermore, this would be a certain success for Christmas gifts for gamers; image spending Christmas day with a drink and DMC 6. That sounds fantastic!
What Exactly Is Devil May Cry?
Hideki Kamiya developed the Devil My Cry series, which stars the popular videogame character Dante. It’s one of Capcom’s most popular games, with ferocious combat and intense, frequently tough gameplay.
It’s not recognized for its ‘pick up and play’ gameplay, but rather for 5-hour-long spurts with a bowl of munchies nearby!
The first was released in 2001 for the PS2 and was planned to serve as Resident Evil 4, a title that was in
itially only supposed to be released on the GameCube!
How Many Devil May Cry Games Exist?
At the time of writing, there are six Devil May Cry titles accessible to play on platforms ranging from the PS2 to next-generation consoles such the Xbox One and PS4, as well as on Steam.
That’s not terrible for a game that was supposed to be a Resident Evil title, is it?
Yes, it’s a bit perplexing that we’re writing about Devil May Cry 6 when there are already six games available, but bear with us.
Which Game Is the Best Devil May Cry?
In our opinion, the finest Devil May Cry game is the original, which was launched on the PS2 in 2001. Sure, we’d choose for the upgraded version on the PS4 nowadays, but that plot and how hard it struck the first time we ever played it just can’t be beaten.
That original narrative, in which Dante sets out to annoy the Demon Lord Mundus, is still fantastic. Competing to earn the highest possible level grade was also amazing; it made us want to go back and complete levels again and again, uncovering things that we had missed the first time around.
‘The first title doesn’t have to be the best simply because it started things off,’ I often say. But in this situation, it is correct!
Which Devil May Cry game is the most popular?
Devil May Cry 4 is the best-selling Devil May Cry game, with 5.4 million copies sold.
When Can We Expect the Release of Devil May Cry 6?
Devil May Cry 6 is set to be released in Winter 2025.
